Run by a private consortium in partnership with the state government, the tram system provides high-frequency services connecting major hubs including Southport, Surfers Paradise, and Broadbeach, while linking directly to the heavy rail network at Helensvale. A supplementary bus network, operated by Kinetic under the state's Translink banner, handles east-west connections and services to lower-density suburbs.

Gold Coast Airport (often historically referred to as Coolangatta Airport) provides the region's domestic and international air connectivity. Structurally unique, the airport's runway physically straddles the state border between Queensland and New South Wales. It operates as a major hub for low-cost carriers, directly feeding the city's tourism-dependent economy, and serves as the primary aviation gateway for both the Gold Coast and the adjacent Northern Rivers region of NSW.
